Rail Warning Sign

I love Japan, with its ability to turn almost anything into an anthropomorphic character. Here, it's a humanoid crossing barrier. Essentially, the text says "don't play on the tracks".

fumikiri - railway crossing
no naka - in the middle of
de - of
asonde - play
wa ikemasen - no good, not allowed

dame - no good

JR - Japan Rail
Tou-Nihon - East Japan
Hachioji - The city of Hachioji
Shisha - branch office

"play in the middle of railway crossing is not allowed"
"no good"
"Signed, East Japan JR, Hachioji Branch"
