Sights along the Tamagawa

Living in and around Tokyo, you kind of forget that there's an entire ecosystem within the city that consists of more than some pigeons, crows and feral cats.

Out along the Tamagawa river, there's a fair amount of vegetation that supports, among other things, river snakes and praying mantises (praying manti?) I was out riding along the river (put in a 2 hour, 50 km mile ride this time) when I saw this little girl trying to cross the bike path. I'm pretty sure she's not a river snake.
