March edition of the "related articles in the media"

This is kind of funny. Kyodo news ran this story on Feb. 22, but it took the Japan Times over a week to get around to copying it. Since the DPJ nixed the development of a manga resource center in Tokyo, it's up to the local communities to show the big guys how it's done.
'Otaku' Subculture Arts-Business Complex Eyed In Kitakyushu

Ok, this following story will be of most interest to builders of the Gakken kits living in Osaka. One of the kits was an 8mm movie projector that worked by bouncing light off of paper through a lens and then to the screen. This kit was based on a commercial projector common in Japan 70 years ago. The below story mentions a hall in Sakai that had screened one such animated movie on Mar. 31.
