This is a poster, taped on a light pole, advertising an Obon festival dance at the local shrine. The dance was held on the weekend of the 7th and 8th, with the children's dance starting at 7:30 PM. Since I worked both nights, I had to miss this one. What's interesting here is that the community leaders hosting the dance chose to use Fujio Akatsuka's (Tensai Bakabon) Iyami character (originally from the Osomatsu-kun series) as part of the ad. A similar ad elsewhere used Pikachu from Pokemon.
If this were the U.S. and the characters included Mickey Mouse, Disney would be sending out a flood of cease-and-desist letters.
