The Tokyo Anime Center has closed its doors. May it rest in peace....

Actually, I'm a little hazy about the details. Back in December, the TAC had notices posted on the door saying that it would be closing as of Jan. 10 for "renewal", which is the Japanese word for "renovations". There was no indication as to how long the renovations would take, but it'd be natural to expect the doors to be closed for a while. The TAC first opened in 2006, and they were having their 5th year anniversary exhibit running from Dec. to Jan. 10. At the time, I didn't see a connection.

But now, the notices on the door are simply saying "TAC closed, thanks for visiting for the last 5 years". And the website has a notice about the "TAC Final 3 Days Event", which ran over the weekend from the 8th to the 10th. There's no mention of the target date for when the renovations would be expected to be finished, so my impression right now is that the TAC is closed for good. I hope that's not the case, because I liked being able to visit them on my way to work.

In any event, the TAC is closed right now. Hopefully, for those of you planning to visit Tokyo your itinerary didn't include the Tokyo Anime Center.
