Relay 2011

Nihon Kogakuin College has programs teaching animation, illustration, manga drawing, video game development and 3D artwork. Relay is their annual exhibit of student final projects. This year, it ran Feb. 26th and 27th, in the UDX building in Akihabara. The "no camera" rule was enforced unevenly, with some areas being off limits, and others not being patrolled by event staff. Some of the work did look amateurish, especially when placed right next to the master-class paintings.

As in past years, some of the illustrations were turned into free postcards, and there were three freebie books - two catalogs advertising the college's programs, and one amateur manga. In terms of exhibits, there was just about everything - board game mock-ups, video games, manga, anime running on TVs, teacups, soft sculptures, posters, game box mock-ups,miniature houses, and dolls. Highly worth the price (free).
