Ok, construction started on a new building at the intersection where I'd gotten hit by a car (no real relationship between the two events). I figured this would be as good a time as any to document the process of putting in the anti-earthquake foundation. After several weeks, the hole is ready and the concrete floor is poured. The concrete is kept damp from this point. Looks like the start of a regular basement. (9/28/2012)
A week later, lots of metalwork set up. (10/02). After this, I'm kept busy, but I do swing by occasionally and nothing much is changed by 10/20.
Suddenly, it's all filled in. (10/26)
Video of "the machine" pulling the iron retaining bars out of the sand. The thing seems to be automated.
