Takashi Yanase dies

Sigh.

Just read on yahoo.co.jp that Takashi Yanase, creator of Anpan-man has passed away on Oct. 15, at age 94.

The problem with time is that if you wait long enough, even the most established names in the manga field, people active from the beginning, will pass on. And there are fewer of them left every month. Shigeru Mizuki (Gegege no Kitaro) is 89, Takao Saigo (Golgo 13) will be 77 in November, Reiji Matsumoto (Captain Harlock) is 75, Tetsuya Chiba (Ashita no Joe) is 74, Fujiko A Fujio (Laughing Salesman) is 79, Monkey Punch is 76.

Yanase will be missed.
