There's an aquarium next to the Sakurajima ferry port, and it's encircled by a kind of moat. The dolphins in the aquarium are brought out to the moat to swim around for the visitors, 3 times a day during the summer. I arrived a little after 3 PM, with just enough time to catch the last 5 minutes of the show for the day. There were about 20 people on the walkway bridge over the moat watching the show, and their average age was 80. When the show was over, their caretakers pushed their wheelchairs back to the bus to take them back home.
I have it on good authority that the dolphins are thanking their handlers for the fish.
