The new Don Quijote building is now open on street car street. It's part of a chain that has many locations in Tokyo. They advertise themselves as a "deep discount duty free shop", but it's more like a cross between CostCo and a souvenir shop. Most of the items are priced the same as in any konbini or department store, but there are some small bargains. Paper tissues are 1/3 off right now, and a couple of the 1.8 liter containers of shochu are 200 yen cheaper than at Daiei department store. Otherwise, the only draw is that the place is kind of like having a bit of Akihabara in your backyard.
