It's been a long time since I've documented the process of rusting in a city that insists on using iron when buildings are less than a mile from the ocean. Salt in the air is not kind to building fixtures. This stairway is at the end of the Reimeikan history museum, leading to the city library next door (but down at the base of the old castle walls surrounding the museum).
I think it's pretty symbolic of the country as a whole.
