I found these flowers recently, and decided to see if I could do them justice with the pocket camera in macro mode.





It had rained earlier in the day. I like the water drops on the petals in the back at left.

Banksy Trash Message

There's a little food shop in Tenmonkan that sells "Korean-style Cheese Dogs." What this really means is that they deep-fry a stick of cheese as if it were a corndog. I didn't really care for it, but it's popular with school kids here.

The shop is on the corner of the main walkway and a small alley. This sign, using Banksy art, probably without permission, is on the corner of the building on the alley side.

"Please don't dump your trash here."

Cafe Shop Chalk Art

There's an upscale coffee shop and bakery in Tenmonkan that I think calls itself "Cafe Shop", but I'm not sure. Their coffee is somewhere around 400 yen ($3.75 USD) for a regular size cup, no refills, and I don't remember it being all that special. Like most restaurants and cafes in Kagoshima now, they've switched to take-out only during the shutdown.

Won't Lose to Corona, #2

These signs are becoming more prevalent in front of the shops in Tenmonkan. Again, I don't know if this is supposed to say "Japan will survive this", or "This shop won't close during the shut down."

River Hawk

One day, I was walking along the Kotsuki river on my way back from Yamada Denki electronics store, when this hawk (or kite) landed in the river and started mixing a bath with catching small fish for lunch.







"Who's a pretty bird?"

A little later, as I was still walking along the river, there was this loud splash, when I looked over I saw what I'm pretty sure was an eagle rising up from the water with a fish in its talons. I've never seen anything diving in the water for fish before, so that was pretty thrilling. I just wish I'd seen it in its dive down, too.
