Gokoku Shrine Hatsu-mode, 2022

Hatsu-mode is the first shrine visit of the New Year. Generally, it's more meaningful to go on Jan. 1st, but some people will wait until the 15th, when the crowds subside. But, with the pandemic resurging now, there aren't the crowds there used to be. This is Gokoku shrine, which is one of the more influential shrines in the city. The others being the smaller, but older Arata-Hachiman, and the main big one, Terakuni Jinja.

Happy New Year of the Happy Tiger.

Advertising an Instagram photo contest. I don't have a smartphone, so I can't get on Instagram. But, I can't imagine that most of the photos will look all that great...

I normally don't get out here, because it's roughly a 45-minute walk, and there's nothing to do or look at along the way (not including the nearby Kotsuki river, which sometimes has interesting birds).

Lucky foo dogs. This is a photo op for parents to take pictures of their kids in fancy clothes. It's also a chance to see how much of a jerk parents can turn into, making everyone else wait behind them as they take 50 pictures of kids that don't want to follow instructions.
