Hatsmode at Terukuni Jinga, Jan. 9, 2022
I went to Terukuni on Sunday.
They had the normal yatai shops (this one for okonomiyaki on a stick), but very few customers lined up. The hot dogs on a stick seemed to be the only popular item this time.
Crowds are down this year, too.

If you get a bad fortune, tie it up here to protect yourself against it.
Things have been pretty quiet this year. Tenmonkan didn't have their annual mochi pounding at all, that I could see. And neither Tenmonkan nor Terukuni did their traditional "soybean and candy tossing for good fortune." I was planning on avoiding the big crowds for these activities, but was still a little surprised that they didn't seem to be happening at all. Maybe there's a city-wide crackdown because of fears of an Omicron surge.
