The Tax Fest 2018

Every year, the government hosts a "tax fest" to educate people on various changes to the tax laws, to get them to file their forms on time, and to offer other services. This year, "The Tax Fest" was held on Sunday in the middle of Tenmonkan.

There was a tax quiz rally. If you completed the rally form, you got a sticker.

"Do your taxes."

I'd gotten out the door at about 2 PM on Sunday, with the intention of visiting the Gonza City event about a block from this location, then continuning on down to the Volunteer Center to see the crafts fair there. I hadn't been expecting to see the Tax Fair here, and the events stage didn't look to be all that interesting. But, one of the Japanese guys I know that always goes to music events for dancing ran into me and said that I had to come back to watch the stage later. So, after looking at everything else, I came back at about 3:15, just in time for a tax comedy sketch.

The guy that plays Saigo Takamori for laughs gets schooled on why you should pay your taxes.

Preachy and heavyhanded, but the audience loved it.

Finally, Noriyuki Minai went on stage. He's a personality on the local MBC TV shows, and he'd just signed a recording contract for his own songs. So, naturally, they're now copyrighted and blocked on youtube. He did soft J-pop, so I hung around for a few minutes before going to Amu Plaza to see what they had there.
